Internationally sought after photographer Me Ra Koh started out as a writer, turning tragedy into triumph. She found her voice by writing her popular book, Beauty Restored, born of her experience of being date raped in college. Telling her story and reaching out to others who shared a similar experience, she revealed the beauty that comes through healing in the face of life’s adversities.

When she and her husband Brian were pregnant with their second child, grief came again to their lives, revealed on the day they found out that their little baby Aidan’s heart had stopped beating. Me Ra picked up a camera and turned to find solace in photographing her first-born, Pascaline, catching her in all her childhood innocence and glory. Soon, solace turned to brilliance as Me Ra broadened her horizons and began revealing the stories, the essence, and the beauty of the lives around her through her lens. As time went on, brilliance became a distinguished career, and now Me Ra and Brian are two of the most sought after wedding and portrait photographers in the world.

Welcome to a Revolution

Beyond their passion for photography is a vision to see people find confidence in things they never dreamed of doing.  Often this is as simple as a mom understanding how to use her new camera. 

In September 2006, Me Ra was asked to return to the speaking world.  She started with a group of 100 women attending MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers).  The topic: How to Document Your Child's Life and Stories with a Camera.

The response was so overwhelming that Me Ra and Brian decided to offer a couple local workshops.  They were full in 48 hrs of posting to their blog with more than half the moms flying in from all over the country.  A revolution of women, moms, so hungry to understand their camera was underway. The hunger in women to capture their children's lives was becoming greater than the intimidation of a technical piece of equipment: the big, awkward, black camera.

Me Ra and Brian bring all their inspiration to parents with their popular Me Ra Koh Products such as the hit Instructional DVD series for parents, Refuse to Say Cheese and Beyond the Green Box.

Their aim is equip parents and aspiring photographers in the art of storytelling.  Me Ra has come from a deep place of pain, and she often mentions that it's not enough to survive but overcome.
